Lackham College Brake Trailer
14th November 2014
Marshalls have built a very special trailer to be used by the students at Lackham College in Wiltshire. The trailer is designed to allow students to study the different axles and braking systems that can be fitted to agricultural trailers.
The trailer is a BC/21 specified with a front 8 stud agricultural axle and a rear 10 stud commercial axle along with air brakes with load sensing and oil brakes with load sensing. The floor of the trailer was also removed to allow easy access to students and low load capacity 3-leaf springs were fitted so the trailer does not have to be heavily loaded for the students to see the load sensing systems in action.
Braking systems and axle sizes are areas of trailer design that have become much more important over the last few years, and Marshalls are happy to contribute to teaching agricultural students about why it is so important.
